Sivananda Ashram Yoga Farm

Wake up to the sound of the bell at 5:30 am for communal meditation and chanting – this is how every day at the Sivananda Ashram Yoga Farm starts, whether you're here on retreat or for the one-month Yoga teacher training, and it proceeds with lectures, Yoga practice, and volunteer service traditionally called karma Yoga. Traditions and historical lineage, tracing back to one of the most renowned Indian sages in the 20th century, are key values at the ashram, but at the same time a wide variety of modern Yoga ideas and wellness disciplines are embraced. Weekend, 5-day and 10-day courses are offered on anything from classical Yoga classes to Hindu mythology to Ayurveda and stress relief, and there is even a kids' camp in summer. This ashram experience comes with the beautiful natural surroundings of the foothills of the Sierra Mountains near Sacramento. Accommodation is provided in simple or deluxe cabins which can be shared or booked as privates, and an organic vegetable garden provides food for the two vegetarian meals a day.
